Von der Babylonischen gefengknuss der Kirchen
Luther, Martin, 1483-1546
Summary: This is a German translation of De captivitate Babylonica ecclesiae praeludium, first published in 1520. This translation is from the pen of Thomas Murner, a leading satirist of the Reformation period, and an early opponent of Luther. Murner wanted to "expose" Luther as a radical revolutionary. "Of the Babylonian Captivity of the Church" is a critique of the system of seven sacraments, and of the Sacrifice of the Mass.
