Decem praecepta Witte[n]berge[n]si praedicata populo
Luther, Martin, 1483-1546
Summary: The sermons on which this commentary on the Ten Commandments is based were delivered in Wittenberg in 1516-1517. This is the first work of Luther's to be translated into a modern European language. This is the first printing of the work.
Signatures: A-T4; [A] unsigned, T4b blank.
Illustrative and Decorative Content: Full page woodcut of Moses on A1b, printer's mark on T4a. Title within engraved woodcut border (white on black).
Additional Details: Extensive contemporary manuscript marginalia, shaved in rebinding. Title page also (but more expertly) repaired. This volume was formally in the Beck Lutherana collection #270. This copy is wormholed and amateurishly repaired with a slight loss of text in the last leaves. The title page has also been repaired, but with more success. A collector's mark at the foot of the title page may also be noticed on several title pages in this bibliography. Our attempts to identify the mark have so far failed.
