Summary: This is a finely executed and rare edition, dealing with the office of the Pope, with special emphasis on the person of St. Peter. Tommaso de Vio, also called Cajetan, taught philosophy and theology at Padua, Pavia, and Rome, and played an important part in the ecclesiastical affairs of the time, urging the cause of reform.Signatures: A-L4, M6; [A] unsigned, M6b blank.Illustrative and Decorative Content: Title within engraved woodcut border; initials.Imprint: Printing information from colophon.Additional Details: On the inside upper cover is the former ownership mark of "J. Mozley Stark". There are extensive manuscript marginalia in the volume, as well as a mark on the inside upper cover reading, "Cajetan [us] Car[dina]lis. 1521."
