Summary: Luther wrote this exposition of the Magnificent (Luke 1:46-55) in March 1521. He dedicated it to Duke Johann Frederich of Saxony as a token of his thanks to the Duke for his support and encouragement after Luther's condemnation by Pope Leo X. Text in German includes Luther's German translation of the Magnificat from the N.T. Greek of St. Luke's Gospel.
Signatures: a-l4; [a] unsigned, l4b blank, a3 unsigned. This copy made up of two eds.: signatures a-k from one ed., and signature l from a different ed. Signature l laid in at end.

Additional Details: This volume was formally in the Beck Lutherana collection, #281 and in the W.H. Stifel collection, #139. There are manuscript bibliographical notes on the upper flyleaf. A manuscript date ("1521") is at the head of the title page and an old ownership stamp ("v.N.") is at the foot.
