The Pleasant Grove Church, formerly knkown as Methodist Protestant, was founded in 1854 when Seaborn Solomon McFarity and his wife Carolyn Biggers McGarity deeded the piece of land upon which the church and most of the cemetery is located to the conference from this tract. In 2023 the church disafilliated from the United Methodist Church
