Turin United Methodist Church (Turin, Ga.) records
The Turin United Methodist Church was first organized in 1828. It was originally named Tranquil Church. The land for the first building was William Baugh Shell and wife, Nancy Sims Nance Shell. The first preacher was Rev. W.W. Stegall. Around 1880 the church was moved to Turin , Ga. and renamed Turin Methodist Church. The church building was remodeled and an educational annex was added in the 1950s. Stained glass windows were added in 1973. A new fellowship hall was built in 1996. In 2023 the church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church.
