Lincolnton United Methodist Church (Lincolnton, Ga.) records
In 1823, Colonel Peter Lamar donated land for a house of worship used by Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian congregations. In 1912, the North Georgia Conference approved the purchase of a ½ acre lot on which Lincolnton Church stands today in Lincolnton, GA. Construction, delayed by weather and funds, began in 1912 and finished in 1915. The original wooden structure featured a bell tower and the first stained-glass windows in Lincoln County. Since 1948, the church has undergone significant renovations, including the remodeling of the sanctuary, expanded education spaces, and changes to the church courtyard. Three parsonages have been acquired over the years. Lincolnton Church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
