Buchanan United Methodist Church (Buchanan, Ga.) records
The Buchanan Methodist Episcopal Church South was organized in 1879 in the first courthouse in Haralson, GA. Buchanan Methodists and Baptists have both offered the use of their church building throughout the years due to fire hazards and the construction of new church buildings. The church has built three houses of worship throughout its history. The first church burned down in 1888, and two churches were built after 1908. Since the late 1940s, the church has constructed or bought an educational annex, sanctuary, steeple, H.O.P.E. building, parsonages, and a parking lot. The Buchanan Church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
