Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church (Chickamauga, Ga.) records
The first Methodists in Chickamauga, GA gathered in a brush arbor in 1874. James Lee offered to build a church in 1874, and a Masonic Lodge was also established that year. The church and lodge were initially built near the current site, later adding a parsonage and sanctuary. In 1910, James Lee's heirs donated land, but members disliked the new location and sold the building, moving to land bought by D.A. Jewell. The present church was completed in 1913. Since 1956, fundraising efforts have supported the construction of a fellowship hall, parlor, and parsonage, as well as sanctuary renovations. Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2023.
